🌎 How It All Began

Vance Roush founded Overflow App Inc. in November 2019 with the core belief that he world of the generous gets larger and larger (Proverbs 11:24 MSG). If that's true, then our life purpose and our company's mission has to be to inspire the world to give. We started by building platforms for stock-based giving, but we won’t stop there. Our goal is to unlock every major asset class, enabling anyone, anywhere to give to the people and causes they care about. Ultimately, we want every person to experience the abundant life that generosity brings.

 

🤲🏽 Why Would a Fin-Tech Company Serve the Nonprofit Space?

As access to securities becomes more democratized (think: Robinhood), millennials are shifting their wealth allocation from cash to stock, and technology companies are compensating employees with equity. As a result, there is exponentially more access to stock.

Traditionally, donors have given from their cash accounts, which are also used for everyday obligations and expenses. However, a separate bucket—like a stock portfolio—exists for wealth that isn’t tied to those obligations. When people realize they can give from their gains, they are often more generous.

The average donation through Overflow is 47x more generous than the average ACH and debit/credit donation across other platforms. By enabling donations through publicly traded stock and cryptocurrencies (and eventually through other assets like private equity), Overflow is creating opportunities for nonprofits to access larger funding pools and working to create a more equitable world.
