Why Are DAF Gifts Excluded from Giving Statements?

Last updated: September 24, 2026

If you’ve made a gift through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you might notice it does not show up on your nonprofit’s giving statement. This is normal and relates to how DAF gifts are processed for tax purposes.

When you contribute to your DAF, that's when you receive your charitable tax deduction. Later, when you recommend a grant to a nonprofit, the DAF sponsor sends the funds directly to your organization.

  • ✅ Since you already claimed the tax deduction when contributing to your DAF, the grant to the organization doesn't provide an additional tax benefit.

  • That's why a DAF grant won't appear alongside your other donations, even though your organization may have received the funds.
