To make sure your generosity is properly acknowledged, Overflow automatically sends a confirmation email each time a donation is recorded. This includes both online and in-person gifts, like physical cash or checks.

What to Expect in the Email

    • 💵 Cash Gift: Thank you for your Contribution to !
    • 📈 Stock Gift: | Contribution Received |
  2. Confirmation Number
  3. Summary of your donation details and contact information
    • 💵 Cash Gift: Amount, fund designation, frequency, and payment method.
    • 📈 Stock Gift: Number of shares, contribution date, and received date.
  4. “Manage My Giving” button — If you’ve made at least 1 online donation, you’ll be able to view this gift in your Donor Profile.

Why Is My Billing Address Included?

Your billing address is included to help confirm that your donation went through correctly and to ensure your tax receipt and acknowledgment letter are accurate. (For compliance reasons, only your organization has the ability to hide this information.)

Does the Confirmation Email Serve as My Tax Receipt?

Most of the time, yes! For cash donations, it meets the IRS’s written acknowledgment requirements. However, your official acknowledgment letter may arrive separately, depending on the type of gift and your nonprofit’s process. 🧾

What If I Notice an Error in the Email?

If a donation was mistakenly attributed to your Donor Profile, or if any of the gift details appear incorrect, we recommend reaching out to the nonprofit directly.
